Volker Wertich (* July 21, 1969) is a developer of computer games and "bedrock" of the German developer scene. He is the father of the Settlers series and is responsible for the first and the third part of the series. In 1997 he founded the studio Phenomic Game Development, and then developed the game SpellForce. In August 2006 the studio is bought by Electronic Arts and now known under the name EA Phenomic. Wertich there continues to be the managing director.
